Temporary Visitor Restrictions in Place at Labrador Health Centre

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services – Labrador-Grenfell Zone advises the public that visitation is temporarily restricted to one designated visitor per patient at the Labrador Health Centre inpatient care in Happy Valley-Goose Bay due to an increase of cases of influenza like illness. While visitor restrictions are in place, only essential visitation will be permitted at the facility as coordinated between the resident, their substitute decision maker and their care team.

This is a temporary measure to assist in reducing the spread of influenza like illnesses and will be reassessed regularly to determine when general visitation can safely resume. Palliative care and end-of-life visitation should be discussed with the health-care team.

The public is advised that information regarding visitor restrictions is updated regularly, as needed, and is available for the Labrador-Grenfell Zone via www.lghealth.ca/covid-19.

NL Health Services reminds the public of ongoing protocols at health-care facilities, including COVID-19/respiratory illness self-screening for visitors/support persons and masking guidelines. Visitors/support persons are reminded to not visit a health-care facility if they feel ill or are experiencing COVID-19, flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms. For infection prevention, the public is advised to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs or sneezes with a tissue or the crook of their arms and refrain from touching their faces.
