Update on Health-Care Services Due to Global IT System Issue
NL Health Services is providing an update on the impacts to IT services as a result of a global IT system issue.
The Meditech system, which is the main information system used to manage patient care and finance information, is back online and operational across all health-care zones.
While there was some interruption in service, our health-care professionals have been working to continue providing care wherever possible. As of July 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. NDT:
- The Labrador West Health Care Centre remains closed due to ongoing wildfires; anyone requiring medical services in Labrador West should call 811. If someone is experiencing a medical emergency, they should call 911.
- Surgical services are proceeding everywhere in the province as normal, with the exception of the Western Zone, where surgeries and endoscopy services are limited to urgent and emergency cases at this time.
With the exception of the Labrador West Health Centre:
- Medical Imaging, Community-based services, Cancer Care, and Cardiac/Critical Care services have resumed normal operations.
- Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, including routine bloodwork collection, have resumed services.
- Pharmacy operations remain uninterrupted.
- Outpatient clinic appointments are proceeding unless patients have been directly notified.
Patients will be contacted to reschedule any impacted appointments. If you have any questions, please contact your health-care provider or service directly.
At this time, there has been no indication that the outages are as a result of a cyberattack.
NL Health Services thanks our patients, staff, and the community for their understanding and patience at this time.
