Expansion of Health-Care Services for Residents of Labrador West
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is reminding the public that as per the ongoing evacuation order for Labrador City, the Labrador West Health Centre remains closed until it is safe to reopen. We are also providing an update on the availability of health-care services for residents in Labrador West, including an expansion of primary health care services at the temporary ambulatory care clinic in Wabush.
Primary Care and Prescriptions
A temporary ambulatory care clinic has been established in Wabush for residents with urgent/non-emergent needs such as wound care and administration of IV medications and medication-related concerns, including prescription refills. As of tomorrow afternoon (July 20, 2024), the clinic will expand services to include in-person visits with a primary health care provider based on the need to be seen within 24 to 72 hours.
This clinic remains by appointment only and residents are directed to call 811. If an in-person visit is required, residents will be contacted directly with an appointment time.
811 HealthLine also provides 24/7 access to:
• medical advice (including virtual nurse practitioner appointments which can usually be accommodated within three days);
• health information; and
• support in a mental health crisis.
