UPDATE: Health-Care Services in Labrador City Resuming in Phased Approach
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is advising residents that a gradual return to normal operations at the Labrador West Health Centre in Labrador City has begun. This follows the recent announcement of a partial lifting of the evacuation order by the Provincial Government.
Our priority continues to be ensuring the safety of our employees and physicians, as well as providing safe, quality care to our patients, clients and residents.
Resumption of Emergency Department Services
Effective Monday, July 22 at 12 noon, the Labrador West Health Centre Emergency Department will be fully operational. If you are experiencing a medical emergency please call 911.
Appointments at Labrador West Health Centre
All previously scheduled appointments (such as prenatal, surgical services, specialty clinics, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging) have not yet resumed. Patients will be contacted to reschedule in the coming days. We appreciate the public’s understanding as the rebooking process may take longer than normal.
Primary Care and Prescriptions
The temporary ambulatory care clinic remains located and operational in Wabush at this time.
We are reminding residents from Labrador West who are displaced or impacted by the wildfire to continue to call 811 for urgent/non-emergent health issues, primary health-care services and medication-related concerns, including prescription refills.
If an in-person visit is required, appointments will be arranged through 811. Residents will be contacted directly with an appointment time.
811 HealthLine is available 24/7 to provide:
- medical advice (including virtual nurse practitioner appointments which can usually be accommodated within three days);
- health information; and
