Frequently asked questions about your personal health record

What is a personal health record?

A personal health record (or PHR) is a computer-based medical record that securely holds health information about an individual and is accessible by that individual.

What is MyHealthNL?

MyHealthNL is a secure app and website that helps the people of Newfoundland and Labrador navigate health information and services and securely access their personal health record easier and faster than ever before, right from your mobile device or computer.

How do I access my personal health record?

To access your personal health record, download the MyHealthNL app or visit MyHealthNL.ca website

If you have already signed up for personal health record on the MyGovNL website, then simply login to MyHealthNL using the same user and password information you use to access MyGovNL services.

If you have not signed up to access your personal health record, then click on “Login or register” and follow the prompts on the MyHealthNL.ca website or app.

Why do I need a MyGovNL account?

The provincial government has a robust and highly secured identity identification system that NL Health Services is leveraging so you can view your personal health record at your convenience.

Why is it important that I have access to my personal health record?

Having access to your personal health information allows you to take control of your health journey like never before. Having access to your personal health information empowers you to better manage your chronic conditions, monitor your medications, view your test results, and have more informed discussions with your health provider.

Can I schedule appointments on MyHealthNL?

Not yet! This is the first release of MyHealthNL. Over time the app will be expanded to include the ability to schedule medical appointments, receive virtual primary care, check health symptoms online, and more!

Is my personal health information secure?

The privacy and confidentiality of your health information is very important. We have taken significant steps to ensure that your personal health information remains private and confidential. The personal health record leverages the highest privacy standards so you can be assured your information is protected.

MyHealthNL is a secure website. Access to your personal health record will be verified by registering through MyGovNL, using two-factor authentication, and requiring an access code in the mail for identity validation.
