At NL Health Services, we are committed to transforming health care in our province to build a healthier future for everyone.

The Health Accord NL — Our province. Our health. Our future: A 10-year Health Transformation  outlines 59 calls to action. These focus on key areas where transformation is required, addressing the social determinants of health and rebalancing our health system across communities, hospitals and long-term care facilities.

To support this vision, we developed the Health Transformation Framework (PDF) (link-PDF in resources folder). This framework provides the foundation for change and includes the following elements:

  • Dedicated leadership
Transformation is led by the Vice President of Transformation – Well-Being, Vice President of Transformation – Health Systems, Senior Director of Health Transformation, and the Health Transformation team. This work is done in partnership with the Vice President of Quality and Learning Health Systems and the Quality and Learning Framework.

  • Health Transformation Advisory Council
This council is a subcommittee of the NL Health Services executive to guide and support transformation across the organization.

  • Collaborative partnerships
Transforming health care requires teamwork. Our partnerships and accountabilities include research and innovation, quality and learning health systems, digital health/technology, and the Health Transformation Table.

  • Strategic Health Networks (SHNs) and Service Integration Teams (SITs)
These formalized structures ensure services and initiatives are unified and integrated across the province, enabling a seamless and coordinated approach to healthcare delivery.

Together, we are working to create a stronger, more sustainable health-care system that meets the needs of every community in Newfoundland and Labrador.
