If you believe you have encountered a fraudulent account or page impersonating NL Health Services, do not engage with it and do not share any personal information. If you have been the target, witness to, or victim of a job scam, please report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC): reportcyberandfraud.canada.ca as soon as possible.

1. How can I protect myself against job scams from individuals or companies claiming to be NL Health Services?

Always verify contact information
All official email communications from NL Health Services come from an email address ending in @nlhealthservices.ca
If you are unsure about the communication, ask for a phone number and call it back to confirm legitimacy.
Check official job postings
All available positions are posted on the NL Health Services recruitment portal.
Be cautious of unsolicited job offers
If you are contacted directly by NL Health Services or Work in Health NL for a position you did not apply for, make sure to confirm the communication is coming from a verified representative by double checking phone numbers, recruiter credentials, and email addresses.
Interviews are required
NL Health Services will not offer employment without an interview.
NL Health Services does not hire applicants “on the spot”.
References are verified before any job offer is made.
No fees or payment
NL Health Services will never ask you to pay fees, deposits, or processing costs at any stage of recruitment.
NL Health Services does not request direct payment for criminal record checks, immigration support, or job placement.
Protect your personal information
Personal details such as banking information or date of birth are only requested after a formal job offer has been made, and you are working directly with an established recruiter. Do not share personal or financial information early in the recruitment process.

2. How do I apply for a position with NL Health Services?

All job opportunities can be accessed through our recruitment portal at https://nlhs.service-now.com/nlhsjobs. To apply for a position, you will need to create an account using your personal email address (non-NL Health Services email).

Current employees can apply through internal competitions. External postings are open to all applicants.

6. What is Temporary Call-In (TCI) status?

Temporary call-in (TCI) status refers to a type of employment contract an employee can have with NL Health Services. Our TCI employees are causal staff who provide short-term coverage throughout the organization. The employer is obligated to recall TCI employees in order of seniority, and the TCI employee is obligated to accept the shift unless they cannot do so for a justifiable cause (i.e. sick, on approved leave, weekend off, etc.).

7. How many hours could a TCI employee work?

Hours worked by TCI employees range up to 75 hours bi-weekly.

Working hours are based on the needs of specific programs. As a TCI employee, your primary responsibility is to be available when called to provide relief for short-term vacancies. TCI is about the demand and supply of labour. Demand for relief tends to be high. In recent years, TCI employees have regularly enjoyed sufficient hours of work. However, due to the nature of temporary employment, we do not guarantee a specific number of working hours. Conversely, if the demand for labour is low, then there will be less relief work available.

8. What does “Subject to Classification Review” mean on a job posting?

This means the position has been identified for classification review. A position description questionnaire (PDQ) or position description may be required to be completed and submitted to the Human Resources Classifications Division to have the position formally classified by Government. Until a result is returned from the Classification and Organizational Design Division of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, your position will be paid as indicated on any related job posting(s) and/or offer of employment letter received from NL Health Services. Any change in classification or pay level resulting from this classification review will be implemented using the appropriate guidelines.

9. What does “Under Classification Review” mean on a job posting?

This position has been identified as being Under Classification Review. This means a position description questionnaire (PDQ) or position description has been completed and submitted to the Classification and Organization Design Division of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador for formal classification review. Until a result is returned, your position will be paid as indicated on any related job posting(s) and/or offer of employment letter received from NL Health Services. Any change in classification or pay level resulting from this classification review will be implemented using the appropriate guidelines.

10. What does “Under Classification Appeal” mean on a job posting?

This position has been identified as being Under Classification Appeal. This means that the position has been formally classified by the Classification and Organizational Design Division of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and a request to appeal the classification result has subsequently been submitted to the appropriate governing body for consideration. Until a result is returned, your position will be paid as indicated on any related job posting(s) and/or offer of employment letter received from NL Health Services. Any change in classification or pay level resulting from this classification appeal will be implemented using the appropriate guidelines.
