NL Health Services Offers Emergency Medical Responder Certification Program
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is offering an emergency medical responder (EMR) certification program for individuals interested in becoming EMRs. Training and employment opportunities will be offered across the province, beginning with an online and in-person training session in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador from January 12-25, 2025. Recruitment is now ongoing and interested individuals are invited to learn more by visiting the Careers webpage.
NL Health Services will provide financial support to successful applicants to cover the cost of the program (course and training materials), which includes online instruction and four days of in-person training through a training provider. Individuals who successfully complete the course and meet all other requirements will be hired with a return in service agreement with the provincial health authority.
“NL Health Services is pleased to offer this training opportunity which is the first step toward starting a rewarding career as an emergency medical responder,” said Cassie Chisholm, vice-president of transformation – health systems with NL Health Services. “Once certified, individuals will work alongside other members of the paramedicine team and have the skills required to care for people when they need it most.”
Emergency medical responders provide a vital role by responding to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to ill and injured patients. The paramedicine team also includes dedicated health-care professionals in roles such as primary care paramedic and advanced care paramedic and offers opportunities for career growth.
