NL Health Services Seeking Input into Environmental Sustainability Strategy
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is seeking public input to inform development of an environmental sustainability strategy for the health authority. Members of the public are invited to share their views on a variety of topics until Monday, February 17, 2025, at Engage.NLHealthServices.ca.
“Climate change affects the health and well-being of residents and communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and the health-care system,” said Dr. Pat Parfrey, CEO of NL Health Services. “We welcome input from across the province as we develop a strategy to plan for and sustain the effects of climate change and further reduce the health authority’s environmental footprint, which is a key objective within our 2024-26 Strategic Plan.”
NL Health Services is now gathering input on how climate change is impacting health and well-being. Ongoing engagement is key to developing a successful strategy, and the results of the engagement process will help inform the environmental sustainability strategy.
“Our goal is to become a leader among Canadian health-care systems in climate culture and environmental stewardship. As such, we are committed to building a comprehensive environmental sustainability strategy, in alignment with Health Accord NL’s call to action to address the climate emergency,” said Kelli O’Brien, vice president of quality and learning health systems. “We value the feedback of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians on climate change and health and well-being, and we look forward to hearing from you.”
