Posted: January 10, 2024

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is pleased to advise that walk-in appointments will be available every Thursday, at the 33 Reid’s Lane location in Deer Lake, beginning January 11, 2024. This expanded access to health-care services is possible following the successful recruitment of additional health-care providers to the Family Care Team.

Walk-in appointments will initially be offered weekly from 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will expand as capacity allows. These appointments are open to anyone in the Humber Valley-White Bay area, whether or not they are patients of the Humber Valley-White Bay Family Care Team.

To register for a walk-in appointment, please call the dedicated telephone line at 709-635-4203 or go to the clinic at 33 Reid’s Lane. For all other services and general inquiries please call the Family Care Team main line at 709-635-4202.

Please note:

  • The walk-in clinic will provide in-person and enhanced virtual care services to meet your health-care needs and patients will be directed to the most appropriate service.
  • We encourage patients to first contact their own health-care provider or the Western Zone-Regional Virtual Care Clinic (1-888-784-6256) if they do not have a health-care provider.
  • Walk-in appointments are not for urgent/emergency care. If you are experiencing emergency symptoms or requiring urgent/emergency care, please call 911 or proceed to the nearest Emergency Department.
  • There are limited appointments available for open walk-in clinic day and patients will be seen on a first-come, first serve basis.
  • Additional open walk-in appointments will become available as capacity allows.

Patients who do not have access to a primary care provider such as a family physician or a nurse practitioner can register through the Patient Connect NL website at https://patientconnect.nlchi.nl.ca/ or via phone at 1-833-913-4679. Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services will work to connect those who register to a family care team when one becomes available in their area.
