Occupational health and safety
We offer services to promote and optimize your workplace health and well-being, including:
- Health assessment and screenings before starting your role.
- Vaccinations to protect against common health risks.
- Management of blood and body fluid exposures.
- Guidance on communicable diseases, contact tracing and response to exposure.
Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)
The EFAP is a short-term employee benefit program. At NL Health Services, we provide confidential, intervention, and counselling support for you and your family to help you manage personal problems associated with home and work life, including:
- Addictions
- Anger management
- Bereavement/grief
- Critical incidents
- Conflict
- Coping with illness
- Family and relationship concerns
- Financial counselling
- Smoking cessation
- Mental health/wellness
- Parenting
- Stress
- Work/life balance
Musculoskeletal Injury (MSI) prevention and ergonomics
At NL Health Services, we are dedicated to the prevention of workplace musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs). We provide ergonomic assessments and programs to identify and reduce the risk of injury. These services focus on safe practices such as:
- Manual materials handling
- Safe client handling
- Office ergonomics
- Ergonomic facility design consultations
We collaborate with other teams to ensure that work environments are safe, with training available for high-risk activities to prevent further injuries.
Attendance and disability management
We understand that health and disability challenges can impact your work life. We offer tailored, employee-centred return-to-work plans, attendance support programs, and workplace accommodations. Our focus is to ensure that your work environment is supportive, inclusive and conducive to a successful return to work.
In addition to ensuring legal compliance and fostering collaboration, these initiatives support your recovery, and ongoing workplace engagement to achieve a successful, sustainable return to work. They are designed to help you manage health-related issues while maintaining a safe and productive workplace.
