Expansion of Central Labrador Family Care Team
November 27, 2025Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is pleased to advise that the expanded Central Labrador Family Care Team space, located at 412 Hamilton River Road in Happy Valley – Goose Bay, officially opened on Monday, November 24, 2025.
“The expansion of the Central Labrador Family Care Team gives patients improved access to a range of health-care professionals who work together to support the health and well-being needs of individuals and families,” says Joanne Pelley, vice president and acting chief operating officer – Labrador-Grenfell Zone, NL Health Services. “Each Family Care Team is unique and designed to meet the specific needs of a community – they are flexible, inclusive and able to adapt to the needs of patients and the community over time.”
Family Care Team services at the Hamilton River Road location include appointments with physicians and/or nurse practitioners, registered nurses, midwives, licensed practical nurses, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation assistants. Group sessions that focus on wellness, and prevention and management of chronic disease are also being offered.
The Central Labrador Family Care Team now operates from two locations, the current location at Labrador Health Centre, as well as the new location at 412 Hamilton River Road. Many primary health-care services remain at the Labrador Health Centre. Individuals should continue to call the Labrador Health Centre at (709) 897-2000 and select the option for the Outpatient Department to book an appointment. At that time, they will be notified of the location of their appointment.
Residents across the province who do not currently have a primary care provider, or who expect to not have one within the next three months, can register with Patient Connect NL online at: https://patientconnect.nlchi.nl.ca/ or via phone at 1-833-913-4679. By registering with Patient Connect, individuals will be connected with a Family Care Team or a primary care provider as soon as one becomes available in an area.
