NL Health Services Announces Opening Date for Urgent Care Centre in St. John’s

December 23, 2025

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is pleased to advise the public that the new Urgent Care Centre (east), located at 28 Stavanger Drive in St. John’s, is opening on Monday, January 12, 2026.

Walk-in services and appointments will be offered at the Urgent Care Centre. Additional information, such as hours of operation and how to book appointments, will be provided closer to the opening date.

Urgent care refers to the health-care services provided for non-life-threatening conditions that require prompt assessment and treatment by a health-care professional. Urgent care bridges the gap between emergency rooms and primary care, offering a different type of care for illnesses or injuries that need quick medical attention but that are not serious enough to require an emergency room visit or immediate hospitalization.

Examples of mild to moderate conditions that are appropriate for urgent care include (but are not limited to):

  • injury assessment (such as sprains, strains and minor breaks);
  • skin infections, burns and cuts;
  • respiratory infections with fever, cough and/or shortness of breath;
  • stomach illness with nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea; and
  • urinary tract infections.

Information around the opening date for Urgent Care Centre (west) located at 850 Topsail Road in Mount Pearl will be shared with the public once finalized.
