NL Health Services Asks Patients to Check Appointment Letters Before Move to New Ambulatory Health Hub

September 16, 2025

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is advising patients and clients with outpatient health appointments in St. John’s to review their appointment letters to confirm the location of their upcoming visits. Appointments that are scheduled on or after October 21, 2025, may take place at the new ambulatory health hub located at 28 Stavanger Drive (the former Costco building) rather than at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital or the Health Sciences Centre.

The following outpatient services will be offered at the new site beginning October 21:

  • Medicine and surgery specialist clinics including:
    – total joint assessment clinic/bariatric optimization clinic,
    – eye clinic,
    – plastic surgery outpatient clinic,
    – endocrine clinic,
    – thrombosis,
    – cardiac diagnostics (electrocardiograms and echocardiograms), and
    – medical imaging (X-ray machines)
  • Orthopedics
  • Audiology

Additional outpatient services will be relocated to the site in December 2025, including:

  • Blood collection
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Ultrasound
  • Surgery preadmission clinic
  • Pain clinic (including a fluoroscopy room with dedicated space to provide interventions and infusion therapy for patients with chronic pain)

As well, a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) service is scheduled to open at the ambulatory health hub in 2026.

Free parking is available for patients and staff at the new ambulatory health hub.

Some outpatient services will remain at the Health Sciences Centre and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. These include some on-call medicine and surgery specialist clinics, as well as ear, nose and throat clinics, and rheumatology services will remain at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital.

Patients and clients with questions about their out-patient appointments should contact their health-care provider via the number that appears on their appointment letters.
