NL Health Services Hosting 2025 Health Innovation Summit

November 3, 2025

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services, in partnership with the Health Care Foundation, is hosting the sixth annual Health Innovation Summit from November 3-6, 2025 at the Health Innovation Acceleration Centre in St. John’s. This year’s theme is “Refocusing Health-Care Innovation: Active Approaches to Population Health and Well-Being”. During the summit, keynote speakers, academic researchers, health-care providers, and industry experts will discuss how innovative solutions can help to improve our health-care system.

“This year, we are hosting another exciting innovation summit that brings together health-care leaders, researchers, innovators and system partners to explore and accelerate how we reimagine and improve health care across the province,” said Ron Johnson, vice president of Digital Health, Innovation and Research, Chief Information Officer (A) for NL Health Services. “NL Health Services is dedicated to building a health-care system that focuses on prevention, early support, and long-term sustainability. We promote innovation through community-driven solutions that strengthen health services and improve the well-being of patients, clients, and long-term care residents.”

The NL Health Services’ Health Innovation Summit is open to all members of the public virtually.  Anyone interested in attending the 2025 Health Innovation Summit may register here until Wednesday, November 5, 2025: NL Health Services 2025 Health Innovation Summit Virtual Registration.

Sessions open to the public include:

  • Monday, November 3: Summit opening, featuring keynote remarks and presentations from national thought leaders on the evolving role of innovation and value-based health care in driving system transformation.
  • Tuesday, November 4 and Wednesday, November 5: Two full days of programming across four sessions — acute care, cancer care, community and rural medicine, and pediatrics. Each session will feature keynote speakers, expert panels, presentations by health-care innovators, innovation awards ceremonies (a winner from each of the four sessions will be selected to receive funding towards the development of their solution), and a tradeshow with live demonstrations of innovative products and solutions.

NL Health Services is pleased to offer this year’s innovation summit in partnership with the Health Care Foundation. The foundation has been a member of NL Health Services’ innovation ecosystem since the organization started to explore how innovative ideas could have positive impacts on health care.

“The Health Care Foundation is honoured to collaborate with NL Health Services in advancing innovation that strengthens health care in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Paul Snow, president and chief executive officer, Health Care Foundation. “Philanthropy is the spark that turns possibility into progress— driven by donor generosity, it transforms ideas into tangible solutions that enhance care for patients, residents, families, and health-care teams. The Innovation Summit demonstrates how strategic partnership and community generosity can drive meaningful, lasting enhancements in the health and well-being of our province.”

NL Health Services is a Living Lab, which means we are committed to offering a user-centred space where public and private partnerships are actively forged to improve patient care. It is at the heart of our innovative transformation. It provides an integrated, real-world testbed for health-care innovators – from startups to global enterprises – to co-develop, test, and commercialize solutions that align with patient-centred, value-driven, and scalable principles.

The 2025 Health Innovation Summit is possible thanks to the partnership and support of various organizations as well as our health care foundations.
