Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services today launched a new recycling program in partnership with health-care foundations across the province and the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB). This program will enable individuals, groups, businesses, or organizations to donate their beverage container recycling in support of health care and environmental sustainability.

“This new program has the two-fold benefit of building environmental sustainability, which is a priority for NL Health Services, while providing people with an easy way to contribute funds towards the health and well-being of our people and communities,” said, Fraser Fry, senior operations officer – Eastern-Rural Zone, NL Health Services. “We encourage people to consider donating their beverage containers and would like to extend special thanks to the MMSB and the foundations for their assistance in facilitating this initiative.”

To participate in the recycling program and support a health care foundation in the province, residents are invited to collect used beverage containers and bring them to the nearest Green Depot using the MMSB’s map locator. At the depot, instead of using a personal account number, provide the account number of the health care foundation to which you wish to donate.

“MMSB is delighted to see charities, like the health-care foundations throughout the province, benefitting from fundraising opportunities through our local Green Depots while also supporting recycling in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Charles Bown, Chief Executive Officer of MMSB.

Health care foundations play an important role in supporting enhanced patient care and improved experiences for both patients and families throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Through the generosity of donors and supporters, health care foundations support the highest standards of care from a clinical perspective, while also helping to provide patients, residents and clients with compassionate, comforting, and people-centered care.
