Temporary Closure of Western Bay Medical Clinic Due to Ongoing Wildfire

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that the Western Bay Medical Clinic is currently closed due to the wildfire in the area and the evacuation order issued by the provincial government. Health-care services continue to be available at alternate sites across the Eastern-Rural Zone.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately. For all non-emergency medical support, please call the 811 HealthLine.

Health-care support:
NL Health Services recognizes that this may be a difficult time for people and encourages them to avail of mental health resources, if necessary. The following health-care resources are available:

  • Virtual and in-person mental health counselling: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 709-945-6513. Individuals can also connect with a mental health and addictions professional at the Persalvic School Complex in Victoria.
  • Primary health care and community navigation: Primary health care is available to assist with community navigation from Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. For more information, please call 709-945-6550. There is also a temporary primary care clinic on-site at the Persalvic School Complex in Victoria that is offering in-person and virtual care primary care appointments on a drop-in basis.
  • Prescriptions: If people have questions about their prescriptions they can go to a local pharmacy who would have access to their prescription online and should be able to assist. Individuals can also call 709-945-6550 if they have questions.   
  • Community support: Individuals can call the Eastern-Rural Zone community supports intake line at 709-945-6512 (during regular business hours) or 1-833-752-3558 (after hours).
