Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services has put measures in place to deliver time-sensitive correspondence as quickly as possible to its clients, physicians, employees and vendors during the postal disruption at Canada Post including rotating strikes.

During this labour dispute, NL Health Services will make every effort to deliver payments, reports, notification of appointments and other time-sensitive correspondence as quickly as possible, with minimal interruption in service; however, some delays can be anticipated.

Client Cheques

Client cheques in all zones will return to being delivered through Canada Post as of Monday, November 3, 2025

Prescription Medications Via Mail

During the postal strike, patients throughout the province who normally receive prescription medications from NL Health Services through postal delivery will receive their prescriptions via courier. If the patient is not home at time of delivery, a notice will be left on the door including a contact number so that delivery can be re-arranged.

Patient Reports

Patient reports are now being delivered to referring physicians through Canada Post.

Appointment Notices

Appointment notices are now being delivered through Canada Post. Some program areas will advise by telephone of appointments scheduled within a short timeframe.

Vendors

Cheques for vendors are now being delivered through Canada Post. Vendors who have not already done so and wish to set up an electronic fund should call their regular contact in the Accounts Payable Division.

Employee Cheques

NL Health Services will continue to be delivered through Canada Post for those employees who typically receive their pay cheques via postal delivery. Employees can also arrange for direct deposit.
