As the provincial health authority, NL Health Services is responsible for providing health care across Newfoundland and Labrador. Our goal is to create a health-care system that is more integrated, accessible, technologically enhanced, equitable and sustainable for everyone in the province. By operating under one unified provincial authority, we can streamline services, improve efficiency and work toward better health outcomes for all people of the province.

Guided by the vision of
Health Accord NL, we offer a comprehensive range of health-care programs and services through a wide network of facilities, clinics, and community services across five zones. This regional structure allows us to tailor programs and services to better meet the unique needs of communities across the province. While each zone is responsible for delivering certain services locally, all zones operate within the framework set by NL Health Services. This ensures consistency, quality, and coordination across the province, while maintaining a unified approach that aligns with provincial standards and priorities. In this way, we balance local responsiveness with provincial oversight to provide equitable and efficient care for all.

The five health zones are:

Central
Communities extending from Charlottetown in the east, Fogo Island in the north, Harbour Breton in the south, to Baie Verte in the west.

Eastern-Rural
Communities including Holyrood, Southern Avalon and Bell Island, as well as all municipalities west of Holyrood and Witless Bay up to and including Port Blandford.

Eastern-Urban
The following communities: Conception Bay South, Witless Bay and Bay Bulls. For Greater St. John’s area, all municipalities east of Conception Bay South and Witless Bay up to and including Pouch Cove, except for Bell Island.
