Pediatric Services Temporarily Unavailable at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that pediatric services at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin will be temporarily unavailable until:

  • Thursday, April 2 at 10:00 p.m.

Patients in the area who require emergency pediatric services during this time are advised to proceed to the emergency department at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre where they will be assessed and transferred to another hospital, if necessary. 

Individuals requiring obstetrical services may proceed to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre emergency department, where an obstetrician/gynecologist is available on-site to assess. Obstetrical patients who are in closer proximity to another hospital, such as the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, should proceed to that location for assessment.

In case of emergency: Patients with a medical emergency who require an ambulance should call 911. Those who feel they have a serious or urgent medical problem should proceed to the nearest open emergency.
