Visitor Precautions in Place at Western Memorial Regional Hospital
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that visitor precautions are in place for Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook effective May 22, 2026.
Visitation on Unit 5A Cardiology is permitted and is currently limited to one visitor per patient; however, the public is being cautioned about the presence of gastrointestinal illness (GI) in this area of the facility. Visitation arrangements will be assessed daily, and where additional family support is determined to be beneficial for a patient, exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If a precaution is in effect, individuals should refrain from visiting when possible, and immediate family members should contact the facility before visiting. If visiting, please follow guidance as outlined by staff, which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Visitor precautions are a series of infection control measures put in place to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases which are common in health-care facilities. They are designed to keep residents, families, staff and visitors healthy and safe. For more on infection prevention and control measures, please click here.

NL Health Services thanks the public for their understanding as we continue to focus on providing safe and quality care for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
