Visitor Precautions in Place for Western Long Term Care Home

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that visitor precautions are in place for the Restorative Care Unit at the Western Long Term Care Home, effective Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Visitation is permitted; however, the public is being cautioned about the presence of influenza in the facility. For additional information, visitors may call 709-784-6169.

When visitor precautions are in effect, individuals should refrain from visiting unless necessary. Immediate family members should contact the facility before arriving. Those who do visit are asked to follow guidance as outlined by staff, which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Visitor precautions are a series of infection control measures put in place to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases, which are common in health-care facilities. These measures help protect residents, families, staff and visitors. For more on infection prevention and control measures, please click here.

NL Health Services thanks the public for their understanding as we continue to focus on providing safe and quality care for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
