We provide pastoral care and spiritual support to patients and families. Pastoral care workers are specially trained to provide support in healthcare settings, offering compassionate listening and considerate care to people of all ages.

You do not have to be a member of a religious group to receive these services.

 

Our team

Our pastoral care team includes trained professionals who are knowledgeable about religious beliefs. They work across all programs including acute care, long-term care (LTC), and mental health and addictions, and can perform certain religious ceremonies if requested.

 

How to access this service

 

Hospital:

  • During registration, you will be asked about receiving pastoral care services. 
  • Pastoral care can be requested at any time. To receive pastoral care services after registration, speak with a member of your healthcare team.

 

Long-term care:

  • Spiritual needs are supported through church services, pastoral visitation and supportive counselling. 
  • Some LTC locations may have full-time chaplains. Pastoral volunteers and community clergy provide the service at other locations. Requests can be made to your healthcare team at any time.

 

For pastoral care emergencies in either setting, ask a member of your healthcare team to page a chaplain through the switchboard.
