Allergy and immunology services are offered at the Allergy Clinic at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

The clinic provides specialized assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children and youth with conditions that affect the immune system. We care for patients across Newfoundland and Labrador.

How this service can help you

The clinic can help:

  • assess immune system conditions
  • diagnose immune system disorders
  • develop a treatment plan based on your child’s needs
  • monitor conditions that need ongoing care
  • provide education and support to help families manage their child’s condition

Care is provided through outpatient appointments. Our teams works together to provide coordinated, evidence-informed care.

Who can access this service

This services is available for for: 

  • children and youth up to their 18th birthday

The clinic provides care for both common and complex immune system conditions. Some children may need ongoing, long-term monitoring or specialized treatment. 

How you can access this service

A referral is required. 

Referrals can be made by: 

  • family physicians 
  • pediatricians (doctors who specialized in children’s health)
  • nurse practitioners 
  • other health-care providers 

Your team

Your child’s care team works together to provide safe, coordinated care. 

Your team may include: 

  • physicians specializing in immunology 
  • a registered nurse coordinator and other registered nurses 
  • medical residents (doctors completing specialty training)
  • learners who are supervised by experienced health-care professionals
