About this service

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a treatment where you breathe 100 per cent oxygen while inside a pressurized chamber. The pressure helps your body absorb more oxygen, which can help certain medical problems heal.

There are 15 Health Canada-approved conditions that we treat at our facility covered by MCP.

What to expect

A hyperbaric chamber is a strong metal or clear tube that can safely handle high pressure. We have two types:

1. Multiplace chamber

  • Holds multiple people at one time and there is more space.
  • The chamber is pressurized on air.
  • Oxygen is delivered via a mask or other system.
  • Staff members are inside with you.
  • You may sit or lie down.
  • Entertainment system is shared.

2. Monoplace chamber

  • One patient at a time is treated in a chamber.
  • The chamber is pressurized on 100 per cent oxygen.
  • A mask is used to provide air during a portion of the treatment.
  • Staff watch you from outside the chamber but can see you clearly and can always hear you through a microphone inside the chamber.
  • You lie down for the entire treatment.
  • A TV is available for entertainment for each chamber.
  • There are important rules to follow about what is allowed inside the chamber. You will be informed of this before your first treatment.
