For non-life-threatening conditions, you may visit a walk-in clinic in your area. Some clinics may offer virtual care.

Find a family doctor

If you are without a primary care provider or will be without one in the next 3 (three) months, you can be added to the provincial waitlist.

HealthLine 811

HealthLine 811 is a confidential service, available 24/7, that connects with a registered nurse for health information and medical advice.

Virtual consultations with nurse practitioners are available for non-emergency issues including routine prescription refills and advice on managing chronic conditions.

Services are covered by MCP and available daily, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. It is recommended to book appointments one week in advance.

Virtual primary care: Teladoc

Teladoc offers virtual primary health care for people without a family doctor or nurse practitioner. Appointments are available with Canadian-based family physicians and nurse practitioners who are licensed to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador.

To be eligible for provincial virtual primary care services, you must:

  • not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner;
  • be registered with Patient Connect NL or by phone at 1-833-913-4679; and
  • have a valid MCP number.

Virtual primary care: Medicuro

Medicuro offers virtual health clinics for common conditions including sinus infection, sore throat, pinkeye, cuts, sprains and strains, rashes and other skin issues, and vomiting. These services are covered by MCP.

Pharmacies: Get the care you need

Pharmacists can assess and prescribe treatment for common conditions including shingles, nail fungus, pinkeye and urinary tract infections. They also provide short-term renewals for most prescriptions and health advice for common health concerns.
