Media toolkit
At NL Health Services, we recognize the critical role the media in helping to inform the public and to share a variety of messages about the provincial health authority’s programs and services, along with other public health and health-related information. We value our partnership with the media and respect the media’s interest in obtaining accurate and timely information about the organization.
We strive to work openly, transparently and responsively with the media, providing clear, accurate and timely information. It is also important that any communication with the media upholds privacy standards.
Release of client information
NL Health Services has a moral and legal obligation to protect the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information and personal health information of our patients, clients, residents, staff and physicians as defined by provincial legislation. We strive to balance the public’s right to know with privacy in accordance with the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) and the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA)
Site visits
To protect privacy, all visits by media to NL Health Services sites including patient rooms, parking garages, clinics, office spaces, etc. are authorized by our Communications department.
Contact us
All media inquiries are facilitated by our Communications department. This includes requests for interviews with physicians and/or employees, as well as interviews with patients, clients or residents while at NL Health Services facilities. Media inquiries are routinely facilitated during business hours.
