Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services invites media outlets for a tour of the new Mental Health and Addictions Centre (MHAC) in St. John’s in advance of opening for patients and clients next week. The media tour will take place Monday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m.  

Patrick Whalen, Regional Director, Acute Care Services for Mental Health and Addictions, NL Health Services and Allison Winter, Project Senior Systems Transformation Consultant (clinical), will lead the tour and be available to answer questions. 

The final preparations are well underway as mental health program teams begin moving activities from the Waterford Hospital to MHAC, which will open on Sunday, April 13, 2025. 

Members of the media are asked to RSVP to the media contact listed below and meet at the MHAC main entrance for the tour.
