Posted: June 14, 2024

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services – Western Zone is advising the public of a change in appointment notifications for medical imaging tests and procedures such as ultrasound, MRI and mammography at some Western Zone facilities.

Effective Monday, June 17, 2024, patients with medical imaging appointments at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook and Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, will receive notification of their appointment:

  • by mail if it is scheduled more than two weeks in advance Each appointment letter will contain the appointment site, time, date, preparation instructions, and a phone number.
  • by telephone from staff at the medical imaging department if it is scheduled less than two weeks in advance.

This new notification process replaces the previous process of notification from individual primary health-care providers.

To support this new notification process, we encourage patients to ensure they have accurate contact information on file. This will ensure patients receive medical imaging appointment notifications to the correct mailing address or phone number. Patients are encouraged to call 1-877-336-4170 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday to update their contact information with NL Health Services. A valid MCP card will be requested during the call.
