Mobile Crisis Response Teams now Available in Twillingate and New World Island Area
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is announcing the expansion of mobile crisis response services to individuals in the Twillingate and New World Island areas, in partnership with the RCMP.
A mobile crisis response team includes mental health and addictions clinicians and trained police officers who respond together to crisis in the community. The purpose of these teams is to deliver rapid, mobile and community-based crisis intervention services directly to people in the community, reducing the need to visit emergency departments.
This service will be available seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Twillingate and New World Island areas.
Mobile crisis response services can be accessed by calling 911, 811 or your local police department. For a complete listing of communities with mobile crisis response teams and their hours of operation please see here.
This expansion to Twillingate and New World Island areas supports the provincial initiative “Our Path of Resilience: An Action Plan to Promote Life and Prevent Suicide in Newfoundland and Labrador,” to enhance mobile crisis response services in rural communities throughout the province.
