NL Health Services Hosting 2023 Innovation Summit
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is hosting its annual health innovation summit from October 23 to 27, 2023 at the Health Innovation Acceleration Centre in St. John’s. This year’s theme is ‘Reimagining Patient-Centred Care through Innovation and Research.’ Over the course of five days, keynote speakers, academic researchers, innovation partners, government officials, and industry experts will discuss how research and innovation has had positive impacts for health-care patients and clients as well as health-care professionals.
“This year, we have further expanded our innovation summit to include a research component with five days of informative presentations, discussions and networking opportunities,” said Ron Johnson, Chief Operating Officer of the Eastern Urban Zone and vice president of Innovation and Research for NL Health Services. “Health-care research and innovation, at its heart, is about finding ways to improve the health of our patients, clients and residents, and why it is fitting to focus this year’s summit on patient-centred care. By including patients directly in their care, we are creating a health-care system that treats everyone with dignity and respect in their overall well-being.”

Below is an overview agenda of the innovation summit:
Monday, October 23: Innovation and Applied Health Research Day showcases the diverse range of practical and innovative health-care research currently being investigated by NL Health Services’ innovation and applied health research teams.
Tuesday, October 24: Clinical Trials Day features the latest advancements in clinical research including the Atlantic Clinical Trials Network and pharma clinical trials.
Wednesday, October 25: Health Innovation Tradeshow features companies from around the world presenting the latest in health medical technology innovation.
Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27: Innovation Days focus on the role of artificial intelligence in health care.
