Temporary Closure of Labrador West Health Centre During Ongoing Wildfire
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is providing an update on health-care services at the Labrador West Health Centre due to wildfire activity in the area.
The Labrador West Health Centre is now closed and will remain closed until it is safe to fully reopen. NL Health Services advises patients with a medical emergency to call 911. Ambulances are stationed in the area to respond to emergency calls as walk-in emergency services are not available.
Health-care services continue to be available at alternate sites across the Labrador-Grenfell Zone. The Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley – Goose Bay has initiated a Code Orange to support potential additional demands on the facility.
NL Health Services recognizes that this may be a difficult time for people and encourages them to avail of mental health resources, if necessary.
