Walk-In Testing Clinic in Response to Ongoing Syphilis Outbreak in Labrador-Grenfell Zone
Posted: February 3, 2025
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is reminding the public of the importance of regular testing for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) due to the ongoing outbreak of syphilis in the Labrador-Grenfell Zone.
There will be a walk-in testing clinic for STBBIs, including syphilis, hepatitis B and C, HIV, gonorrhea and chlamydia, at the Labrador Health Centre (Outpatient Department) in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on:
Saturday, February 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Patients can expect:
- A judgement free, trauma-informed setting open to anyone who would like testing.
- Walk-in appointments with in-person providers.
- On-site blood collection.
- Information and harm reduction supplies will be available.
- Individuals will be seen on first-come, first-serve basis.
The public is reminded that regular testing can reduce impacts on your health and lower your chance of getting or passing on STBBIs.
