Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that emergency services are being supported through a Virtual ER physician at Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale on:
- Monday, May 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
When a virtual ER is operating: Residents can proceed to the ER at Green Bay Health Centre as usual where they will be assessed and transferred to another hospital, if necessary. The emergency department staff will be supported by a physician who will be available virtually.
In case of emergency: Patients with a medical emergency who require an ambulance should call 911. Those who feel they have a serious or urgent medical problem should proceed to the nearest open emergency. Other information:
NL Health Services’ Health Hub is available to ALL residents of Central Newfoundland who have non-emergent medical issues and do not have a family physician. Health Hub clinics are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours of operation are dependent on physician availability. To reach the Health Hub, please call the Gander Medical Clinic at 709-381-0112 or 709-381-0338 or the Killick Clinic in Grand Falls-Windsor at 709-292-8404. Patients should expect an increase in wait times for both in person and virtual appointments at Health Hub sites.

- medical advice (including virtual nurse practitioner appointments);
- health information; and
- support in a mental health crisis.

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public of a temporary disruption of outpatient laboratory (blood collection) and X-ray services at Nurse Abernathy Clinic in Trepassey until further notice.
Effective April 27, 2026, X-ray services will continue with limited availability and will be offered by appointment only. Patients may book X-ray services by calling 709-438-2890.
If routine blood collection and X-ray services are required, patients may choose to travel to another health-care facility. This temporary disruption will not impact other health-care services offered at this location.

Visitor Precautions
Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that visitor precautions are in place at Calder Health Centre in Burgeo effective Friday, May 22, 2026.
Visitation is permitted; however, the public is being cautioned about the presence of respiratory illness in the facility. For additional information, visitors may call (709) 886-2898.
When visitor precautions are in effect, individuals should refrain from visiting unless necessary. Immediate family members should contact the facility before arriving. Those who do visit are asked to follow guidance as outlined by staff, which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Visitor precautions are a series of infection control measures put in place to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases which are common in health-care facilities. Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services advises the public that visitor precautions are in place for Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook effective May 22, 2026.
Visitation on Unit 5A Cardiology is permitted and is currently limited to one visitor per patient; however, the public is being cautioned about the presence of gastrointestinal illness (GI) in this area of the facility. Visitation arrangements will be assessed daily, and where additional family support is determined to be beneficial for a patient, exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If a precaution is in effect, individuals should refrain from visiting when possible, and immediate family members should contact the facility before visiting. If visiting, please follow guidance as outlined by staff, which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
